Dr Henri Mickel Sandee is a senior logistics expert at STC Next Rotterdam. He is a Netherlands citizen who obtained his PhD Degree in Development Economics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 1995. Henri is currently living in Jakarta with his family and managing the STC Next subsidiary in Indonesia.
Henri Sandee has a long track record of work experience in Indonesia. In the period of 1986-1992, he worked at Satya Wacana Christian University in Central Java as an assistant professor in Economics Development department. He returned to the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 1986 to continue doing research and lecturing on ASEAN economic development. In this period, Henri carried out frequent consultancy assignments simultaneously for the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations, JICA and other international agencies. In 2007, Henri joined the World Bank Indonesia Office to co-manage its program on trade and logistics. At the same time, he did analytical work and gave policy advice on the design of Indonesia’s logistics strategy, supply chain analysis, port dwell time assessments, and inter-island connectivity.
In 2019, Henri joined STC Next Rotterdam. He is currently managing a small team of maritime experts that does assignments on request of the Government of Indonesia, State-owned companies in Indonesia, and various international organizations. Recent studies include a scan of sustainability of the port sector in AEASN, energy transition in Indonesian ports, and the role of ports in reducing Indonesian logistics costs.
