Sharishen Redzuan Perpinder is an accomplished Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) leader with over 21 years of diverse industry experience, currently serving as the General Manager and Head of the HSE Department at Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP). Known for his visionary approach to safety, operational excellence and digital innovation, Mr. Sharishen has redefined industry standards within Malaysia’s premier container port.
Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Chemical Engineering, Mr. Sharishen began his career in engineering and quality roles across various multinational organisations including his tenure at General Electric where he sharpened his technical expertise as a Supplier Quality and Production Engineer. Driven by a passion for people-centred safety and organisational resilience, he joined PTP in 2014 as an HSE Manager. His exceptional leadership saw him rise to Senior Manager and subsequently to General Manager.
Under his strategic direction, PTP has undergone a multi-year Safety Transformation journey, introducing the first port-sector Safety Maturity Scorecard, implementing digital HSE platforms and embedding safety leadership deep into operational practices. These efforts have strengthened compliance, risk governance and decision-making across the organisation.
His commitment to high-risk operations management is further reflected in PTP becoming the first container port in Malaysia to secure CIMAH certification, a significant milestone in industrial safety oversight. During the COVID-19 pandemic he also led the port’s crisis response, maintaining business continuity while ensuring the health and safety of the workforce.
Mr. Sharishen is known for his analytical acumen, regulatory insight and ability to build high-performing cross-functional teams. He has a unique ability to simplify complex challenges and translate strategy into realistic workable solutions. His leadership combines strategic foresight with operational discipline, fostering a culture of ownership, resilience and continuous improvement. Looking ahead, he hopes to share his knowledge more widely across the industry and play a stronger role in developing future safety leaders through teaching, mentoring and collaboration.
