Ts. Tomingan bin Kamaron is a senior lecturer and Head of Academics with 20 years experienced in the port industry and 10 years teaching experience. He possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, which are beneficial for students’ understanding. Additionally, he has the leadership abilities required to manage a department and provides motivation and career counseling to students. Ts. Haji Tomingan pursued his Master of Business Administration at the University of Hull, UK, after completing his Bachelor of Economics at the University of Malaya. He first started his education journey at Ledang English Secondary School and Yayasan Anda Kuala Lumpur and be awarded with Senior Cambridge and Higher School Certificate. Ts. Tomingan began his career as an Aircraft Mechanic Electrical and Aircraft Fitter Electrical at various Royal Malaysian Air Force bases, including TUDM Kuala Lumpur and TUDM AIROD (Aircraft Overhaul Depot) Subang, from April 1971 until April 1978. He then transitioned to the maritime sector at Johor Port Sdn. Bhd., where he held several positions over the years. He was appointed to various positions, including Head of Safety and Security Department, General Manager of JP Transport, and Senior Officer of Container Terminal Operations. He was also one of the consultants for “Projek Feri Tanjung Belunkor – Changi” and a trainer under UNDP/UNDTAD/Trainmar at Lembaga Pelabuhan Johor. His current tenure is at Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC), where he was appointed as Head of Academic along his teaching position. Some of the subjects that he taught was International Business Strategy & Policy, Shipping Practices and Documentation, Maritime Economics and others. At NMUC, he was also appointed as Chairman of Academic Management Board and the Senate member. Ts Haji Tomingan is a member of the Malaysia Board of Technologists as a Professional Technologist and a chartered member (CMILT) of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Malaysia (CILT).
