Dr. Inga Bartusevičienė is an Associate Professor of Maritime Education and Training (MET) at the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden. With over 25 years of experience in higher maritime education, she has held both academic and leadership roles in Lithuania and Sweden, contributing meaningfully to the global advancement of maritime human capital development.
Dr. Bartusevičienė holds a PhD in Education Sciences from Klaipeda University (Lithuania) and a Master of Science in Mathematics from Vilnius University (Lithuania), as well as a Master of Science in Maritime Affairs, specializing in MET, from WMU (Sweden). Her academic and research interests focus on educational innovation, action research, lifelong learning, seafarer well-being, resilience, and sustainable development in the maritime and ocean sectors.
Throughout her career, she has actively engaged in teaching and supervising MSc and PhD students, delivering executive and professional development programmes worldwide, and leading international projects. Her recent publications address some of the most pressing challenges facing the maritime sector, including mental health at sea, integration of digital competencies within MET institutions, sustainability in shipping, and inclusive approaches to education for the next generation of maritime professionals.
With a deep commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of maritime education, Dr. Bartusevičienė continues to play a key role in shaping forward-looking educational practices. She actively contributes to IMO- and UN-aligned initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, sustainability, and decarbonisation across the maritime industry.
