With more than a decade of experience in the maritime and port industry, Philip Roos brings a rare combination of strategic vision and hands-on execution. He is not a traditional consultant; his career has taken him from boardrooms to quaysides, giving him a deep understanding of both the operational realities and strategic challenges of today’s ports and energy transition.
Philip is the founder of Power2Match, a platform that initiates and connects project opportunities across the maritime, port, and energy sectors. Through this initiative, he has built collaborations with leading organizations including Damen Shipyards, the Municipality of Rotterdam, Van Oord, Boskalis, Schneider Electric, and Techforce Innovations. His approach is rooted in creativity, trust, and decisive action, with the goal of accelerating sustainable innovation and growth.
In addition, Philip co-founded Rotterdamse Havendraken, a network of entrepreneurial investors focused on scale-ups shaping the future of ports, logistics, and energy. With 11 active investors, the initiative has already established joint investments that demonstrate the power of collective entrepreneurship.
Earlier in his career, Philip served as Acceleration Manager at PortXL, where he led the scouting team, supported innovation processes, and connected corporates with start-ups. Before that, he worked at Heerema Marine Contractors as a process improvement specialist, driving lean management initiatives and safety programs both onshore and offshore.
Academically, Philip holds an MSc in Maritime Operations and Management from City University London and a BSc in Technology Management from the University of Groningen. He also earned his Lean Black Belt certification and serves as a Lloyd’s Register Lead Auditor.
Above all, Philip is passionate about building bridges—between people, companies, and countries—to create meaningful impact in the global maritime and port ecosystem. His goal in joining this event is to strengthen international relations and explore new collaborations between Malaysia and the Netherlands in the port and maritime domain.
