Adel Asrawi

Presenter

Adel Asrawi is a seasoned legal expert in international maritime law, with a strong background in both public and private sector advisory roles. She currently serves as a Maritime Policy Officer at Burstock Company, where she provides legal and policy guidance to the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Prior to this role, Adel held the position of Legal Director at Murillo Romero Abogados, S.C., a law firm in Mexico specializing in maritime and insurance law. Her earlier experience includes serving as a Technical Officer to International Organizations at the Embassy of Mexico in the United Kingdom. In that capacity, she acted as Legal Advisor to the Mexican Delegation to the IMO, the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO), and the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds).

Adel began her legal career as an Associate at the maritime law firm FDMA and completed an internship with the General Directorate for Port Development and Administration within Mexico’s Ministry of Transport.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in law with a specialization in International Public Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and a Master’s Degree in International Maritime Law from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI). She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in International Maritime Law at IMLI, where her doctoral research focuses on the legal framework and liability regime applicable to Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS).
