Amanda Hastings is an English-qualified solicitor with deep expertise in Maritime Law and International Trade. She currently serves as the Head of Claims, Asia Pacific at Maersk, where she leads customer claims across the full spectrum of the logistics business—including Ocean, Air, Road, and Warehousing services throughout the APA region. Amanda joined Maersk in April 2024, bringing with her a wealth of international legal and operational experience.
Before joining Maersk, Amanda spent five years with a leading dry bulk operator in Singapore. In that role, she provided comprehensive legal support and managed claims across a range of P&I (Protection & Indemnity), FDD (Freight, Demurrage & Defence), and general charterparty matters. She also held key responsibilities in the company’s sanctions and trade compliance programs, navigating complex regulatory environments and ensuring operational integrity.
Amanda’s maritime career began in Europe, with earlier roles at the UK P&I Club and international law firm HFW, where she focused on supporting clients in the German market. Her cross-border experience gives her a nuanced understanding of global trade dynamics and dispute resolution in the shipping industry.
Beyond her professional role, Amanda is a committed contributor to the broader maritime community. She serves on the Executive Committee of WISTA Singapore (Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association), is an ambassador for CHIRP—a safety-focused charity promoting confidential incident reporting in maritime and aviation—and is a member of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) In-House Counsel Group.
Amanda is a regular speaker at industry events throughout the Asia-Pacific region, where she shares insights on claims management, compliance, and industry best practices.
