Mazlinawati Abdul Majid is a Senior Researcher at the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA). She leads the Centre for Maritime Economics and Industries (MEI). She holds a Master of Business Economics and has established herself as a prominent figure in maritime economic research, focusing on areas such as smart ports, maritime ecosystems, and Malaysia’s role in global maritime trade.
Throughout her career, Mazlinawati has contributed to various scholarly publications. Her works include analyses on maritime financing, the development of smart ports, the evolution of Malaysian shipping, and the significance of the maritime sector to Malaysia’s economic stability. She has also explored topics like halal logistics and blue carbon, reflecting her diverse research interests.
Beyond her research, Mazlinawati actively participates in regional maritime initiatives. She represented MIMA at the ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG), ESCAP Committee on Transport. Additionally, she served as subject matter expert in Sabah Blue Economy Framework and contributing to the framework and analysis.
Mazlinawati also engages with the public through various platforms. She delivered a talk at the Women in Maritime event, emphasizing the importance of women’s roles in the maritime industry. Furthermore, she moderated the Maritime Economy Forum, facilitating discussions among key stakeholders on Malaysia’s maritime economic development.
